The stage is set for Wednesday night, as winners of the UEFA Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain, will face UEFA Europa League winners, Tottenham Hotspur, in Bluenergy Stadium in the latest edition of the UEFA Super Cup final.

PSG and Tottenham will aim to see who comes out on top as the King of Europe.

The Parisians won the UEFA Champions League trophy last season after thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final, thanks to goals from Désiré Doué,  Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu.

Tottenham, on the other hand, won the UEFA Europa League trophy after beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final, thanks to Brennan Johnson’s goal.

Ahead of Wednesday’s showdown, both teams look quite different compared to last season.

Tottenham have already lost one of their key players, Son Heung-min, this summer.

The South Korea international left Tottenham to join Major League Soccer, MLS, club Los Angeles.

However, Tottenham have also strengthened their squad with new arrivals like Mohammed Kudus, Mathyls Tel,  João Palhinha and Kevin Danso as they will hope to lead Thomas Frank’s side to the UEFA Super Cup title on Wednesday in Italy.

Spurs head to the game after losing one, winning one and drawing three of their last five matches against Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, Luton Town and Wycombe.

For PSG, Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final will be their first in the history of the club.

Luis Enrique’s side won the French Ligue 1 title and the French Cup last season.

The likes of Milan Škriniar and Ilyes Housni have left PSG for Fernabahce and Le Havre, respectively, while Lucas Chevalier has joined the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup runner-up.

Since losing the Club World Cup final against Chelsea last month, PSG are yet to play any official pre-season friendly game.

Speaking with DAILY POST on Monday evening, Isa Saleh, co-founder of Borno Junior League, gave his opinion on this year’s UEFA Super Cup final.

“The UEFA Super Cup final will be a tough encounter for PSG and Tottenham in Italy. Both teams had a wonderful campaign last season,” Saleh told DAILY POST.

“Obviously, PSG didn’t play any pre-season friendly matches because they spent a month playing at the Club World Cup tournament in US this summer.

“I think their last competitive match was against Chelsea in the Club World Cup final which they surprisingly lost. But Tottenham have been playing some pre-season matches so far this summer but their results haven’t really been impressive, but they defeated Arsenal 1-0.

“So, I am expecting a tight final game, with high intensity from both teams. PSG will be careful to face another English team after their last game against Chelsea ended in a defeat.

“Tottenham could pull a shocker against PSG because we saw what happened in the Community Shield when Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool,” he said.

When asked to provide his prediction for the game, Saleh said, “2-1 for PSG, because they have to learn their lesson against Chelsea,” he added.

DAILY POST reports that the kick-off time for the UEFA Super Cup final is 8 p.m., Nigerian time.
