UCL: ‘I’m disappointed in you’ – Danny Murphy slams Arsenal star ahead of PSG clash

Published on May 04, 2025 at 01:10 PM

Former player and Premier League star, Danny Murphy has slammed Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard, following the Gunners’ 1-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semifinal first leg last week.

Murphy is of the opinion that the Norwegian did not step up and take risks in the game, adding that he was disappointed with the former Real Madrid man.

He told talkSPORT that the midfielder played too safe in the loss to the French side and that was not what Mikel Arteta’s needed on the night.

He added that Odegaard was a shadow of himself from his Real Madrid days.

“What did you think of Odegaard? Disappointed, I actually was disappointed, he’s a quality player, but I think he gets over-awed by those real big ones. I can see it in him, he’s not as risky in his play.

“He’s not as free. He was part of a team that went to Madrid and won and played well, but those killer passes and key moments, no, he was very safe.”;

Arsenal will travel to Paris on Wednesday to face the French at Parc des Princes hoping to overturn Ousmane Dembele’s 4th minute strike in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

After the game on Tuesday, Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta assured the Gunners faithful that his side would be equal to the task ahead.
