Former Liverpool winger, Steve McManaman, has picked the best midfielder in Europe amid this season’s UEFA Champions League competition.
Speaking on TNT Sports, McManaman picked Arsenal’s Declan Rice as the best midfielder ahead of Barcelona’s Pedri and Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha.
According to him, the England international is a different type of midfielder due to the way he plays.
“When you think of his [Rice’s] role, and you look around Europe, you’ve Pedri who is beautiful, Vitinha who is great, but the way Rice plays, I would certainly say he is the best because he is a different type of player to them,” McManaman told TNT Sports.
“He’s so effective, last year he was amazing, and he has stepped up again this year.”
