A MAN and a woman have been arrested after a two-year-old girl was found dead following a police welfare check.
A probe into the tot’s tragic “unexplained” death has been launched after she tragically passed away in hospital.


Cops were called to a home on Hartington Close, in Thornaby, near Middlesbrough, on Saturday for a welfare check, the youngster was rushed to hospital shortly later.
A man, aged 21, and a woman, 25, have since been arrested in connection with the death of the two-year-old.
The pair are being questioned by police in connection with the youth’s death while investigators comb the property.
Witnesses said detectives were on scene at the home overnight on Saturday.
Forensic officers and crime scene investigators were seen at the house on Sunday as the probe into the tots tragic death continues.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained, Cleveland Police said.
The force released a statement reading: “Officers were called to Hartington Close in Thornaby at around 4.20pm on Saturday 13th September following concerns for the welfare of a two-year-old child.
“The child was taken to hospital where she very sadly passed away. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and detectives have launched an investigation.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the child during this very difficult time.
“A 25-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the child’s death and they are being questioned. Enquiries are ongoing.”
