Tragic Flash Flood in Spain: Two Women Dead and Two Babies Injured as Search Efforts Begin After Landslide

TWO women have been killed and two babies have been injured after a devastating flash flood and landslide caused by torrential rain in Spain.

An urgent search operation has been launched for missing locals as weather warnings for severe downpours have also been issued.

The two women, aged 60 and 80, were confirmed dead in the Castile and Leon region after biblical rain on Saturday.

A sweeping deluge hit the village of Manzanedo de Valdueza, near Pontevedra.

This triggered overflowing in the Orza River which then sparked flash flooding and a landslide.

Two babies were treated for bruises during the horror weather conditions.

The two youngsters and two elderly victims were in a winery alongside two survivors when floodwater started seeping into the room.

Shocking footage has also shown the extent of the floods – with muddy water seen rushing through cars as rain pummels the streets.

Some vehicles were swept away during the extraordinary storm, reports say.

In another clip, stunned locals watched on as an overflowing river swept away piles of debris, seemingly from a landslide.

The jaw-dropping weather has damaged roads and cut off several links between towns.

Firefighters, police and emergency workers have all been deployed to help locals.

The flooding warnings follow weeks of record-breaking heatwaves that have sparked huge wildfires across the country.
