Two dead as PSG fans celebrate Champions League final victory

Published on June 01, 2025 at 04:56 PM

Two people have been reported dead amid celebrations over Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory, French authorities revealed on Sunday.

The Ligue 1 champions produced a dominant 5-0 win over Inter Milan on Saturday night to claim their first-ever Champions League trophy.

As celebrations kicked off back in France, the Eiffel Tower beamed out the team’s colours and supporters partied into the night.

However, it degenerated into violence in some areas.

A man in his 20s died in Paris after a car hit his scooter, while a teenager was stabbed to death in Dax.

The circumstances of both incidents are being investigated.

According to the national police service, a policeman was accidentally hit by fireworks in Coutances, northwest France. He is now in an artificial coma because of grave eye injuries.
