DONALD Trump has said he’s ‘saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails”; after the Tesla CEO announced he was launching a new political party.
It comes after Elon Musk said on Friday that he had set up the America Party â in a bid to challenge the Republican and Democratic two-party system.
Trump slammed Musk’s proposal, arguing third political parties never succeed in the US and only create “complete and total disruption and chaos”;.
Musk previously cited a poll in which he asked whether respondents “want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system”; that has dominated US politics for two centuries.
The yes-or-no survey earned more than 1.2 million responses.
Musk wrote on Saturday on his social media platform X: “By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!”;
“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,”;he wrote.
It comes after a massive fall-out between the US president and the world’s richest man over the new budget law.
Musk claimed the “Big, Beautiful Bill”; would bankrupt the US.
