DONALD Trump’s face is set to feature on the US passport as the country prepares to celebrate 250 years since gaining independence.

Adding to the growing list of official documents bearing his likeness, the mock-ups show a highly stylised design.

Trump is surrounded by the Declaration of Independence and an American flag, while his signature appears in gold on the inside cover.

The back of the document continues the theme, with another flag and a prominent “250” surrounded by decorative stars.

These are being developed as part of the White House’s celebrations marking a quarter of a millenium since the US was founded.

According to a State Department official, the documents will be available to any American who wants one.

Spokesman Tommy Pigott said: “As the celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the state department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed US passports to commemorate this historic occasion.”

The government is reportedly planning a “limited run” of 25,000 passports, though the final design has not yet been approved.

The move follows a series of similar decisions that have drawn criticism.

Trump is set to become the first sitting president to have his signature feature on banknotes.

His signature will appear alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The first $100 bills featuring bearing both signatures are expected to enter circulation in June, with others expected soon after.

The US Mint also unveiled a design for a commemorative $1 coin featuring Trump’s face ahead of the anniversary celebrations.

Until now, Calvin Coolidge has been the only other US president to appear on a coin during his lifetime.

“There is no more powerful way to recognise the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than US dollar bills bearing his name,” Bessent said.

Elsewhere, the 2026 National Parks pass was updated to include Trump alongside George Washington.

One of the more controversial changes saw Trump add his name to the Kennedy Center in Washington.

Several artists scheduled to perform at the venue cancelled after the rebrand, and it has now been closed for renovation.

Despite the backlash, Trump has spoken openly about his enthusiasm for presiding over the milestone year.

“In some ways, I’m glad I missed that second term where I was [by losing the 2020 election] … because I wouldn’t be president for that,” Trump said.

“Most important of all, in addition, we have the World Cup and we have the Olympics. Can you imagine? I missed that four years. And now look what I have.

“I have everything amazing. The way things work out.”

Celebrations for the 250th anniversary are expected to be wide-ranging.

These include a UFC fight on lawn in June and an IndyCar race in Washington later in the summer.
