Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, Orji Uzor Kalu of the APC, representing Abia North, stated that US President Donald Trump was correct in his claims regarding the violence in Nigeria, emphasizing that he spoke the truth.
Kalu made this assertion on Tuesday while speaking to reporters about US concerns over assaults on Christians in Nigeria and Trump's warning of potential military intervention.
He mentioned that the violence occurring throughout the nation has resulted in the loss of lives among both Christians and Muslims and must be addressed firmly.
“If it’s a falsehood, then the truth is that it’s not false because he spoke the truth. Nigerians are being killed, regardless of whether they are Christians or Muslims.
“There are jihadists who aim to devastate Nigeria. We should categorize them as enemies without mercy so that they can be eradicated,” he stated.
The former governor of Abia State also disclosed that he had consulted with two former US Presidents, one from the Republican Party and one from the Democratic Party, along with six current US Senators, all of whom expressed their willingness to support Nigeria in combating terrorism.
“Before President Trump makes a statement, the American intelligence community must have already identified the locations of these terrorists. You can observe that the Nigerian Air Force is currently taking action, possibly utilizing intelligence shared by the U.S. to target terrorist hideouts. That’s how it should operate,” he added.
