Troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a scored a tactical victory on Thursday morning as they neutralised a suspected bandit and recovered weapons during a raid on a criminal hideout in Teng village, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Shendam launched the operation at about 5:00 a.m., catching the criminals off guard.

Military sources told Zagazola Makama that during the operation, the troops engaged the suspects in a firefight, leading to the death of one bandit.

Troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the scene. The weapons are now in military custody for further investigation.

It was also confirmed that troops expended 17 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the gun battle.

Security sources added that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend other fleeing members of the bandit gang as the military intensifies operations across volatile areas in the North Central region.
