Troops, police rescue abducted miners in Zamfara

At least, four youths abducted by armed bandits in Zamfara State have been rescued following a swift joint operation involving troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police personnel, members of the Civilian Protection Group (CPG), and local hunters.

The operation which took place on Tuesday was disclosed in a post by a security analyst, Zagazola Makama on his verified X handle on Wednesday.

According to the post, the incident occurred when eight boys from Alasanawa village in Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area, were reportedly abducted by armed bandits while engaging in illegal mining activities in the Alawa bush, near the notorious Hawan Bakwai black spot.

“Responding swiftly, the combined security forces stormed the area and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which led to the successful rescue of four of the abducted boys,”; Makama wrote.

Makama added that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining four victims still held in captivity.
