Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have discovered a suspected terrorist burial site containing about eight bodies during an operation in Borno State.

The development was revealed in a post shared on Monday on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to security sources cited in the post, the discovery was made on March 21 by troops of 68 Battalion during a fighting patrol in the Duguri area of Abadam Local Government Area.

The patrol, led by the unit’s commanding officer, formed part of efforts to track down fleeing insurgents and restrict their activities in the area.

“During the operation, troops discovered a fabricated mortar tube, a suspected terrorist burial ground containing about eight bodies, and an advanced aid post believed to have been used for treating wounded fighters,” a source said.

The findings are believed to be linked to recent military operations that forced insurgents to retreat from their positions.

Sources said the presence of the burial site and the medical post suggests that the terrorists may have suffered heavy losses during earlier clashes with troops.

Following the discovery, troops have intensified patrols and clearance operations in the area to prevent the regrouping of insurgents and maintain pressure on fleeing fighters.

Military authorities have continued to assure residents of their commitment to restoring peace and security across the region.
