TROOPING the Colour is the colourful celebration of the Sovereign’s official birthday.

What is the route of the Trooping the Colour parade?
The King : Charles’ actual birthday on November 14, and an official birthday marked every summer by the Trooping the Colour ceremony.
Taking place on the second Saturday in June, the event was started in 1748 by George II as the weather was so bad he couldn’t hold his Birthday Parade on the actual date in November.
This year’s gets underway tomorrow, at Horse Guards Parade on Whitehall and is .
The royal procession will involve over 1,350 soldiers and 300 musicians, with the route taking them from to the Horse Guards Parade by travelling down The Mall.

From there, the monarch will then lead the guards in a parade back to the palace.
Upon return, will take the salute, signalling guns to be fired in Green Park and at the Tower of London.
The monarch will then join other members of the on the balcony to watch the RAF flypast, which is scheduled for 1pm.
Fans hoping to witness the ceremony can line The Mall or edge of overlooking Horse Guards Parade.

Those hoping to attend the event should be aware of the road closures that will be in place for the morning and early afternoon. Roads and areas affected include:

- Birdcage Walk
- Parliament Square approaches
- The St James’s Park area

The King’s Birthday Parade will be broadcast live on the .
Coverage begins at 10:30am, with highlights of the day’s events set to be available on BBC Two and the iPlayer from 7:05pm.
Seated tickets for the stands on are no longer available as the online ballot needed to secure a place closed in March.
However, as previously mentioned, those hoping to attend can try to find a spot along The Mall or at the edge of St James’s Park.
