Transfer: Rio Ferdinand hurt as Man Utd miss out on signing Frimpong

Published on June 02, 2025 at 07:26 AM

Former Manchester United centre-back, Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he was ‘hurt’ to see the Red Devils miss out on the signing of Jeremie Frimpong.

According to Ferdinand, the right-back would have been a perfect fit for manager Ruben Amorim’s system.

Man United had been monitoring the Netherlands international’s progress at Bayer Leverkusen in the past few months.

But the 24-year-old ended up joining Manchester United Premier League rivals Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.

Speaking about Frimpong, the former England international said on Rio Ferdinand Presents, “Frimpong is going to Liverpool which will hurt me a little bit. I have got to be honest.

“I think he would fit the way that Ruben Amorim wants to play perfectly.”;

This is coming less than a few weeks after and the likes of Adam Wharton, Victor Osimhen and Matheus Cunha this summer transfer window.
