Newcastle United star, Anthony Gordon has hailed his former teammate, Alexander Isak after the striker joined Liverpool on the summer transfer deadline day.
Isak had to force his way out of Newcastle as the club were reluctant to sell him this summer.
The Sweden international embarked on a strike and boycotted Newcastle training until the Mappies had no option but to let him leave in a Premier League record transfer.
Gordon said despite all the brouhaha that surrounded the Swede’s move, the 25-year-old was one of his best teammates and a great personality.
Wishing him the best of luck at Liverpool, the England international said it was a pleasure to play with Isak at St. James’ Park.
Gordon, who shared the dressing room 84 times with Isak at Newcastle United, combining for 10 goals, said he wished him well on Instagram.
“Regardless of the situation & what’s gone on, it’s been a pleasure to play with you. One of the best chemistries I’ve had on the pitch and more importantly a great person and teammate. I wish you nothing but the best brother.”
Both players combined to help Newcastle United win the Carabao Cup win last season. It was the club’s first trophy in 70 years..
