Manchester United legend Lee Sharpe has urged the Red Devils’ manager, Ruben Amorim, not to allow Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford leave Old Trafford.
He said Shaw remains one of the finest left-backs in the world.
Shaw moved to Old Trafford from Southampton in 2014 with the Red Devils paying as much as â¬37.5 million.
However, persistent injury problems have led to the England star struggling to find his feet Old Trafford.
The left-back did not play for Manchester United for a huge chunk of last season, featuring for just 12 games across competitions.
Sharpe also expressed concern over Rashford’s future at Manchester United
He told AceOdds, “I think it’s a shame what has happened to Shaw.
“I think on his day, he is probably one of the world’s best left-backs.
“If he can stay fit, no one in the club is a better left centre-back than him.”;
On Rashford, “It would be a shame if the club lost him, but also I’m not sure if he fits into Amorim’s system.”;
Rashford spent last season on loan at Aston Villa where he scored 6 goals in 25 matches in the Premier League.
