Transfer: Arsenal shift focus to Gyokeres, drop interest in Osimhen

Arsenal have submitted an initial bid to Sporting CP for their striker Viktor Gyokeres, effectively quelling rumours of a potential pursuit of Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen.

According to A Bola, the latest decision from the Gunners marks a significant shift in their transfer strategy as they prioritize Gyokeres over Osimhen this summer.

The Premier League North London club offered €55 million with an additional €10 million in performance-related add-ons for the Sweden international.

But according to the report, Sporting CP immediately rejected the bid, which fell short of club president Frederico Varandas’s valuation of Gyokeres.

Regardless of the rejection, Arsenal’s interest in the 27-year-old signals their intent to strengthen their attacking options this summer.

And as a result, it has effectively removed speculation that had linked them with a big-money move for Osimhen.

Osimhen enjoyed a wonderful loan spell at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals in all competitions.

The Nigeria international has attracted interest from several European top clubs, with Arsenal previously rumoured to be among the clubs interested in his signature.
