He has said it was inspired by a time in his life when he was part of a devout religious group and accidentally shared a saucy text meant for a lover with his entire congregation back home.
Some of his works are sold at Edinburgh-based gallery, Bard with some currently available to buy for £960.
“Scotland’s deep connection with nature really resonates with me. The landscape feels both raw and welcoming, a space where I can reflect, recharge, and feel awe,” Matty told Bard in an interview on its website.
“Scottishness, to me, is tied to this relationship with nature: a shared understanding of the value of wild places, the sense of freedom they offer, and the responsibility to protect them.”
Despite his unique take on travel photography, Matty has said “Instagram hates my bum,” using a peach emoji in place of the word bum on his account bio.
While Matty is originally from Northern Ireland, he now lives in Edinburgh and had always felt a connection with Scotland.
“Although I’m not Scottish, I come from a community in Northern Ireland where many people identify as Ulster Scots, so I’ve always felt a connection and appreciation for Scottishness,” he told Bard.
Now engaged, Matthew says he’d use any winnings to marry after campaigning for same sex marriage in Northern Ireland.
Of The Traitors, he has said: “I think my biggest tactic is to always be part of the bigger group. No way am I getting off the train or getting in a coffin. I won’t do anything that separates me from the wider group because I think that leaves you in danger.”
