From introducing a mother and daughter team to various surprises, a lot transpired in the premiere.
However, keen-eyed fans believe they noticed several clues indicating that one pair appeared too familiar for contestants meeting for the first time.
As in previous seasons, the new contestants met each other for the first time on a train heading to the iconic Traitors castle in Scotland.
Ross and Ellie, both hailing from London, seemed to share a flirty exchange during their introductions on the train, prompting some amateur detectives to speculate that they were an item.

Eager to uncover more, the at-home detectives took their investigations a step further by researching Ellie and Ross online.
They discovered that Ross had ‘liked’ a post by Ellie on the professional networking site LinkedIn posted in July regarding a promotion she had received, although it's unclear whether he liked it before or after The Traitors was filmed.
“They could potentially be a couple – I noticed Ellie’s reaction when Netty recognized Ross,” one fan commented on Reddit.
Another added: “Their initial scene did seem a bit staged. If you live in London and someone else claims to, especially at a young age, you wouldn't be surprised!
“It's not like both living in Cornwall or Grimsby or something.”
A third user observed: “She glances at him when everyone is gathered after the traitors are chosen, just for a split second, but it looks like she’s checking his reaction to what’s being said. It appears very obvious to me!”
As for Ross’ connection to Netty, the Traitors producers insisted they were unaware of the pair’s previous friendship.
In an exciting episode full of surprises, one twist came when nursery teacher Netty exclaimed, “Oh my god, Ross!” upon their face-to-face encounter outside.
The two explained that they had met around 15 years ago through a mutual friend.

Executive producer Mike Cotton stated: “The connection between Ross and Netty was completely unintentional. We cast them as individuals.
“We conduct extensive background checks on all participants. During this process, we discovered they followed each other on social media.
“So we were aware of a tenuous link, but we had no idea if they would recognize each other or how they would react.
