A MISSING schoolboy who vanished a week ago has been found dead in a woodland near a cemetery.

had been frantically searching for 14-year-old Tyler Townsend since he went missing in on May 17.

Police has now confirmed that a body was found on Thursday evening around 7pm.

The body was found in a wooded area near Burslem Cemetery and is believed to be the missing teen, the force said.

Formal identification is yet to take place and Tyler’s family are being supported by officers.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We can sadly confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing 14-year-old Tyler, from Stoke-on-Trent.

“He was last seen in the area on Sunday (May 17). Officers have been carrying out extensive searches to try to find him since he was reported missing.

“Shortly after 7pm today (Thursday May 21), a body was found in a wooded area near Burslem Cemetery.

“Formal identification will take place in due course, but we believe the body to be missing boy Tyler.

“Officers are supporting his family at this deeply distressing time. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
