TWO men have died after a car smashed into a tree on a country road.

The silver Volkswagen golf smashed into the trees on a rural road killing the driver, 27, and his passenger, 33.

Emergency services scrambled to the collision in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, but despite their best efforts the pair tragically died at the scene.

The car left the A1198 near Hilton before smashing into the tree at around 10.30pm on Sunday.

Both the driver and the passenger were from Huntingdon.

Cambridgeshire Police has asked for anyone with information to come forward.

The cops said they want any dashcam footage of the accident or witnesses to get in touch.
