A DRAMATIC multi-car crash between a car, van and lorry has blocked a busy tunnel on a major motorway.

Queues of traffic stretch back for five miles on the M25 as rush hour traffic tried to get through the partially blocked tunnel.

The National Highways agency said the stretch affected is the M25 anti-clockwise in Greater London, between junction 26 and 25.

Paramedics in ambulances were seen attending the scene of the crash this morning after a car, van and lorry collided in the Holmesdale Tunnel.

The smash happened at around 6.40am, according to road tracker website Inrix.

It has caused traffic chaos and severe delays for commuters using the ring road to get to work on a sweltering day.

The Holmesdale Tunnel, where the crash occurred, is one of the busiest road tunnels in Europe.

National Highways said in its recent update: “Lane 1 (of 4) remains closed on the M25 anti-clockwise in Greater London between J26 and J25 Holmesdale Tunnel due to a traffic collision.

“Vehicle recovery is ongoing. Currently, there are delays of 33 minutes on the approach, with 5 miles of congestion.
