Lagos State Government has scheduled a temporary traffic diversion along Osborne Road in Ikoyi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The diversion will be in effect from Friday, August 15, to Sunday, August 17, to enable the completion of key drainage infrastructure.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the diversion is required to link new drainage channels on Modupe Alakija Crescent to the underground system beneath the median of Osborne Road.

He explained that the work involves the construction of a cross culvert, necessitating the cutting through of a section of Osborne Road, just before Foreshore Towers. The operation will commence at 10 p.m. on Friday and is expected to be completed by midnight on Sunday.

To ease the impact on traffic, a counterflow system will be implemented over a stretch of approximately 100 metres, from Modupe Alakija Crescent to the Alfred Rewane Road junction, for the duration of the works.

Motorists travelling from Osborne Road towards Alfred Rewane Road are advised to take Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue to link Glover Road, Lugard Avenue, or Cameron Road. Conversely, those heading from Alfred Rewane Road to Osborne Road can use the same alternative routes in reverse.

Osiyemi assured that the road will be fully reopened by Monday, August 18, and that operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will be deployed to manage traffic flow and reduce inconvenience to road users.
