Viewers have to pay a subscription to watch the full duration of all the stages involving the best cyclists on the planet.

However, a new partnership with 5 has been reached to broadcast daily highlights from each of the three Grand Tours, starting with the Tour de France, between 2006 and 2008.

That agreement also includes the Giro d’Italia in May and Vuelta a Espana in August and September.

The daily highlights show, hosted by sports presenter and journalist Rebecca Charlton, will be available at 7pm each evening between July 4-26 – the first stage is a team time trial staged in Barcelona.

As part of the contract, 5 will broadcast the Grand Depart live on free-to-air TV for the 2027 Tour.

The , starting in Edinburgh, winding its way down via Carlisle, Liverpool and on to Cardiff, before the peloton crosses the Channel.
