TOTTENHAM are confident of appointing an interim head coach by Monday.

Spurs this week after a winless run of eight games left them at risk of relegation.

, Marco Rose, , and Edin Terzic are among as a replacement.

SunSport can now confirm the plan is to have an interim now – and appoint a permanent boss in the summer when a wider group of candidates are available.

That raises the prospect of a dream return for former chief Pochettino, who is not available until after the World Cup when his role bossing the ends.

Though sources understand that if the interim boss proves a hit, they will be under consideration for the gig full time too.

Spurs are looking for an experienced head coach now who has a track record of making a quick impact after being appointed.

The need for that is obvious given the five-point gap the club have to the relegation zone.

Spurs’ squad are currently on a five-day break which was planned before Frank’s sacking, given they have no FA Cup fixture this weekend and are through to the last 16 of the Champions League, meaning no play-off next week.

They return on Monday for training, by when Spurs expect to have an interim in place.

Spurs’ new interim manager will face a baptism of fire.

Their first match in charge will be against Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on February 22.
