TOM ASPINALL has announced that he will undergo two eye surgeries following the unexpected cancellation of his fight against Ciryl Gane.

He suffered an injury at UFC 321 in October, resulting in the fight being declared a no-contest.

The 32-year-old was diagnosed shortly after the fight was canceled.

The heavyweight also received a diagnosis of Brown’s syndrome, which restricts the upward and inward movement of the eyes.

Aspinall is now strategizing his return and a rematch against Gane, with the second surgery scheduled for January.

On his official YouTube channel, he shared: “By the time this is released, I will likely have already undergone surgery on one side.

“The next surgery is set for mid-January. So, we are working towards my comeback. That’s the plan.”

Last week, he expressed frustration over a post from Gane stating that no date had been set for their next fight.

He responded: “Of course, there isn't a date yet.

“I’m not medically cleared to fight and am about to have surgery because of your sharp fingernails.”

“I’ll be back to take you down soon, you cheat.”

He previously mentioned on The Ariel Helwani Show that he is not rushing to return to the cage to ensure his eye heals properly.

Aspinall explained: “Obviously, I want to get back as soon as possible.

“That’s the goal. But I also understand that with eye injuries, one must be cautious.

“They are currently uncertain about when I will be back. I’m still not cleared to train or do anything.”

In a video on his YouTube channel, he stated: “I need to be 100 percent healthy. So whenever my eye is ready, that’s when I’ll return.”

Aspinall was upset after fans booed when the fight was called off.

He exclaimed: “I’ve just had a finger poked knuckle-deep into my eyeball. What the heck? Why are you booing? What am I supposed to do about it?

“I didn’t initiate the poke. I can’t see. The fight was just starting. This is complete nonsense. I’m really frustrated. I can hardly open my eye.”
