Former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has rejected the likelihood of success for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the upcoming 2027 general election.
This remark follows speculation that Atiku and Obi may run on a joint ticket under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
While appearing on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole asserted that both Atiku and Obi share a history of electoral defeats, whether they compete together or separately, and would encounter the same results if they unite again against President Bola Tinubu.
He stated: “Didn’t Atiku and Obi previously run together against the APC? You can propose any scenario you wish, but the fact remains that when these two campaigned together, they were soundly defeated by the APC. So why suggest that if they unite again, the outcome would be different?”
“You are merely recycling history. They have a record of being defeated both together and individually. They campaigned together and lost. They campaigned separately and lost. If they decide to team up again, that’s fine. They will still face defeat,” Oshiomhole concluded.
