A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s choice to reshuffle the service chiefs.

In an interview on the program Politics Today, aired on Channels Television and monitored by DAILY POST on Friday, Agbakoba stated that Tinubu's actions were justified if there were credible rumors of a coup.

He was responding to the reshuffle of the service chiefs that President Tinubu announced on Friday.

This move is part of the Federal Government's strategy to enhance the national security framework.

Commenting on the situation, the senior lawyer remarked: “We have a president who is willing to make significant decisions, and we know he is inclined to do so.

“I believe he has made these important decisions because his predecessor, the late former president Muhammadu Buhari, was reluctant to take decisive action and allowed his military team to remain in place longer than necessary.

“Therefore, if there are indeed credible rumors of a coup, it would be prudent for President Tinubu to act as he has. What we need to observe now is the effect of this decision.”
