The British police have arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian musician Mark Orabiyi, whose death has sparked an ongoing murder investigation in London.
Orabiyi, 35, reportedly sustained multiple stab wounds during an incident at a residential property on Rayleigh Road on Friday.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving distress reports, but efforts to save him proved unsuccessful.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers arrived alongside paramedics and discovered the victim critically injured in the garden of the property. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
While formal identification procedures are yet to be completed, authorities confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Mark Orabiyi. Specialist officers are currently providing support to his family.
In an emotional tribute, family members described him as a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend whose life positively impacted many people.
“Mark brought joy, kindness and warmth to everyone around him. His remarkable talent and generous spirit touched countless lives, and his memory will remain with us forever,” the family said.
Police disclosed that three suspects, two men and a woman, were arrested shortly after the incident as part of the investigation.
A 27-year-old man was subsequently released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released after questioning with no further action taken against them.
Investigators also revealed that a second victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, described the killing as tragic and appealed to members of the public to assist detectives with information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
“This is a deeply upsetting incident, and our thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones. Our investigation is progressing, and we urge anyone who was in the area at the time or may have captured relevant CCTV or video footage to contact the police,” she said.
Authorities say inquiries remain ongoing as detectives work to establish the events that led to the fatal attack and identify those responsible.
