THIS is the moment a prolific thief shrieks as he’s bitten by a police dog after being chased across a river, just before his trousers fall down.

Dramatic bodycam footage shows the suspect howling in pain as the Met Police dog PD Bowser bites him in a shallow stream.

The man, named as Louis in the clip, can be seen desperately trying to fight off the dog as an officer yells: “Get down on the floor now.”

But the soaked suspect, with his trousers slipping halfway down, lets out a high-pitched wail as he’s pinned down.

Moments later, officers move in and arrest him on the spot as he teeters on the brink of tears.

The arrest came after a tense pursuit that was all caught on camera.

Earlier in the footage, the repeat offender is seen prowling around a car park in the dead of night after ditching his bike on the pavement.

He is then filmed rifling through vehicles and swiping property as part of a spree linked to 26 counts of thefts.

Met Police cops later track him down to his home, where the drama escalates.

Footage shows officers arriving at the address before the suspect makes a desperate bid for freedom as he scrambles out of a top-floor window.

He then clambers across a rooftop and leaps over a garden fence in a bid to escape.

But police are hot on his heels and soon unleash their dog unit.

Bodycam captures the handler forcing open a gate before heading through the back garden, with PD Bowser leading the charge.

As they reach a stream behind the property, the officer can be heard saying: “I’m just going to go in the river.

“I’ll have to just get wet feet.”

Minutes later, the suspect is spotted at the far end of the water.

That’s when PD Bowser is released at the thief and drags him down in the river.

The dramatic takedown has seen Louis hauled back into custody.

Police later confirmed he had been returned to prison after being convicted on multiple theft offences.

Posting the clip online, the Metropolitan Police said: “Another prolific offender taken off our streets thanks to PD Bowser & his handler.”

One viewer summed up the mood, writing: “That arrest really brightened my morning.”
