A CONTESTANT on The Wheel was left devastated when she lost out on a whopping £86k jackpot.
The hit BBC game show fronted by Michael McIntyre caused chaos with it’s tricky tennis question – but did you know it?

The Wheel sees celebs and civilians come together to try and win a cash jackpot.
Contestants are guided by famous faces in a certain topic area in order to successfully answer questions and walk away with a tidy sum of money.
Experts on the wheel included Loose Women star Judi Love , TV presenter Jonathan Ross and Youtuber and future Celebrity Traitor Niko Omilana .
Other stars to take part have included Saffron Barker , Melvin Odoom , boxer David Haye , and comedian Jo Brand .
In one recent episode, three players were welcomed into the BBC One studio once again to possibly win a huge monetary prize.
When it was Cath’s turn, she revealed what she would do with the prize money, saying: “I would take my daughter and granddaughter on a big boat from Southampton to New York.”
After a passing a question about sitcoms and racking up a £43,000 jackpot Cath was asked if she would like to double it to a whopping £86,000.
The catch being she would have to choose the lowest ranking expert of the night Irish chef Clodagh Mckenna to help her.
Going for a big win Cath chose to double with her question category being on tennis.
The tricky question was: “Which Grand Slam tennis tournament typically takes place earliest in the calendar year?”
And her options were Wimbledon, US Open, French Open and Australian Open.
With 30 seconds on the clock the pair narrowed their choices down to Wimbledon and US Open.
It turns out both were wrong and the answer was actually the Australian Open.
With Cath taking home nothing it was up to previous contestant Alex to now try for the reduced jackpot of £43,000 opting to choose middle ranking William Hansen as his expert.
Hardest Quiz Show Questions
Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV's hardest questions
- Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the “worst” question in the show’s history . Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: “From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?” The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman , Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000.
- The 1% Club – Viewers of Lee Mack’s popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed . The query went as follows: “Edna’s birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘X’ of January.” It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir’s birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence.
- The Chase – The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: “Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?” The options were – sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots – with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes.
After a question about authors he lost out again leaving it up to the only remaining contestant of the night, Hala.
Her Jackpot now stood at half of the original cash prize, £21,500.
But now paired with the top ranking expert of the night Jonathan Ross the odds seemed more in her favour.
In a question about The Beatles, Hala and Jonathon locked in their answer.
This saw her walk away with the money leaving both contestant and expert in tears of happiness.
