After leaving the castle, he shared: “It really hit me on the first night that ‘I’m here, but I don’t have a plan, and I don’t know what I’m doing’.
“I was thrown into the deep end and didn’t know how to navigate it, but I think that’s largely because I wanted to be authentic.”
Other players suspected Reece was a Traitor right from the start.
The night before his elimination, he won a shield through the Chests of Chance.
He added: “I can be quite defensive, so when people accused me, if it was something I hadn’t done, I would respond, ‘I don’t need to prove anything to you, because I simply didn’t do it!’
“The chests were challenging because it was unprecedented, and you can’t really prepare for that.”
Reflecting on his first impressions of his fellow contestants, Reece acknowledged that he made a significant mistake by unintentionally aligning himself with the Traitors.
He noted: “The first person I remember seeing is Stephen. His elegance is off the charts. I recall his outfit on the first day, which was denim on denim, and we all thought, ‘wow, he is so well put together!’
“In my train carriage were Hugo, Rachel, and Fiona, so naturally, they were the ones I connected with the most because they were my initial allies.
“Unfortunately, the fact that they were all Traitors didn’t bode well for me, did it? We might as well have turned the train around.”
Reece surprisingly revealed that he had wanted to be a Traitor, but insisted that Claudia Winkleman made the right choice in not selecting him.
“Given that my face is very expressive, I don’t think I would have excelled in that role, so I was glad to be a Faithful, simply because I wanted to be unapologetically myself,” Reece stated.
“I didn’t expect the weight of being a Faithful, though. I thought, ‘well, I don’t have to lie,’ but I didn’t consider the accusations and feeling trapped, as my only defense as a Faithful was to say, ‘I didn’t do that.’”
