Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, stated that the return to office of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following the conclusion of the state of emergency should have contributed to his growth as a leader.
During an interview on 'Politics Today,' a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST on Friday, Fayose reflected on his own experience, mentioning that after being removed from office and going into exile, he returned as a more mature individual.
Fayose also remarked that President Bola Tinubu, like anyone else, detests ingratitude.
The former governor of Ekiti dismissed the notion that the current situation in Rivers State is merely politics taken too far.
He emphasized that the constitution outlines the rules of engagement for every politician, asserting that it is only when one strays from these rules that they seek public sympathy.
“Governor Fubara’s return should have made him a better person. If you made a mistake the first time, you should not repeat it the second time,” he said.
“Politics is a game of power. No one can navigate the political landscape for you. With all due respect, let me clarify that Fubara is the one who currently enjoys the position of governor in Rivers State, not the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”
“Some people claim this is about Tinubu’s election. That’s not accurate! Tinubu’s election will come first, and we must not forget that. Both Wike and Fubara will support Tinubu. Just two weeks later, there will be an election in Rivers State,” he concluded.
