Video footage from the scene captured the during the confrontation on Friday.
A shocked onlooker nearby filmed the armed Medieval-style battle on their mobile phone.
The thugs freely brandished their weapons on the busy high street as stunned bystanders walked past.
At least four of the thugs were seen wielding large blades as they faced off against another yob in a balaclava.
The masked individual even picked up a trolley bag in self-defence as the fight moved down the street.

The balaclava-clad yob manages to block the blows but is soon set upon by the gang of armed thugs.
He manages to block a few strikes despite stumbling backwards.
Dressed in a black balaclava, he regains his footing and is seen backing away during the footage.
Gobsmacked bystanders can be seen watching on as the brawl occurred in broad daylight.
One of the yobs carrying a large machete was captured posturing towards a person filming and even lunged towards them during the shocking footage.
The thug, dressed in a black coat with navy hoodie on underneath, was with two other males who also wielded dangerous machete-style knives.
Frightened witnesses dialled 999 following the horror yesterday.
A helicopter was seen circling overhead as armed officers rushed to the scene.
The are currently no reports of any injuries or arrests, said cops.
West police said: ”At 3.27pm officers were called to Foundry Street in Dewsbury to reports people were fighting in the street with machetes.”
“Armed Police attended, all was in order and no injuries have been reported.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
