Tension as Emir’s guards destroy door at Katsina governor daughter’s wedding

Published on May 07, 2025 at 10:05 AM

A brief but dramatic moment disrupted the wedding ceremony of Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s daughter in Katsina State over the weekend, when royal guards of the Emir of Katsina, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, forcefully broke a glass door after being temporarily denied entry to the event.

The high-profile ceremony, held at the Governor’s private residence and attended by top dignitaries including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was briefly paused due to heightened security protocols.

Presidential security operatives had momentarily shut access to the main event hall to manage crowd flow and ensure the safety of VIP guests.

A viral video showed the incident occurred just as the Emir of Katsina arrived at the venue. Met with a closed entrance, the Emir’s entourage, including palace guards dressed in traditional regalia, reportedly forced the door open, smashing a glass panel in the process.

The scene startled many guests as glass shards scattered, prompting immediate intervention by security personnel and palace aides.

The Emir was eventually ushered into the hall without further incident.

Despite the disruption, the wedding proceedings later resumed smoothly.

President Tinubu, Governor Radda, and other dignitaries participated in the ceremony, offering prayers and blessings to the couple.
