Now, after getting a two-bed council house, the 19-year-old revealed she was expecting baby number two while being a single mum.
She said: “I’m a single teen mum on . I have a two-year-old and I’m pregnant and I sponge off the government for a living. I also take everyone’s taxes and spend it all on my needs.
“That is what everyone hears when I say I’m a single mum.”
Despite the backlash for receiving, Sadie revealed she was happy to share her life on social media and find others to ‘relate to her.’
She added: “As a single teen mum and a care leaver, I make these videos for people to relate to and to make an extra income to spoil my baby boy.”
The mum said that making video allows her to make some extra cash from the Creator Fund on the app,
Sadie added that trolls are also upset that she managed to get a council house after leaving care.
“Everyone is so sad that I’ve actually got a council house but what do they expect me to do, live on the street?” she added.
“I’m so sorry I don’t have 100k to go buy my own house. Even if I didn’t have my son, I still don’t have £100,000 to go buy my own house. I don’t think a lot of people do at 19.”
As Sadie had just moved out of social care to indipendent living, she was also giving money to help her settle in which she said trolls were not a fan of either.
She added: “A lot of you guys are mad that I get stuff as a care leaver. I’m so sorry that you guys have a loving family that can help you.”
While she got £3,000 to help turn her council house into a home, she said she would much rather a loving family who could step in and help.
“I would take that over money any day,” she explained. “The £3,000 did not even go far by the time I bought a fridge, a washing machine and all bits like that.”
The video went viral on her TikTok account @ sadie_the.teenmum with over 102k views and 6,700 likes.
People were quick to take to the comments to share their thoughts with many supporting the mum.
One person wrote: “Girl who cares what these people say! Many people live on benefits. They are there for families like yours who need help.”
Am I entitled to Universal Credit?
According to the GOV website, if you’re on a low income or need help with your living costs, then you could be entitled to Universal Credit.
To claim, you must live in the UK, be aged 18 or over (with some exceptions if you’re 15 to 17), be under State Pension age, and have £16,000 or less in money, savings and investments.
Other circumstances are if you are out of work, or unable to work, for example because of a health condition.
Another commented: “Even if you weren’t a teen mum, being a mum full stop, it’s impossible to work, childcare takes all your income, its ridiculous.”
“You’re a fantastic mummy!! You’re entitled to what you get,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Getting pregnant when your situation’s like this is diabolical.”
“You are a good mum. However, do better for yourself. Study whilst you’re at home with the so you one day can provide for yourself,” claimed a fifth.
