A MAN has died and a boy has been injured after a bike smashed into a pelican crossing pole.

The incident in Bilston, has seen launch an appeal for information about the bike involved in the crash.

At 9.40pm yesterday, a cyclist hit a pelican crossing, killing an 18-year-old man and injuring a 14-year-old boy.

The man was taken to with serious injuries but sadly later died.

Police said: “Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time.”

The 14-year-old boy sustained injuries which are not believed to be serious.

When officers arrived at the scene the bike was nowhere to be found – and they’re keen to establish where it is.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is working hard to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

Cops say they’re currently reviewing CCTV in the area, but are appealing for anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward.

They are particularly keen to hear from anybody who was in the area around the time and has dashcam footage.
