Her terrified mum reported her missing to cops yesterday after posting a social media appeal.
Today it emerged she died just before 5.30am on Saturday after being hit on the A7 motorway near Cala de Mijas – near Marbella.
A witness said a woman had been hit by a lorry and the driver fled the scene.
The missing teen was not carrying ID but police confirmed it was her after further inquiries following her family’s decision to report her disappearance.
Cops are still believed to be hunting the driver of the vehicle that hit her, with no reports so far of any arrests being made.
Brit holidaymakers and expats were asked to look out for Nikoline in an appeal her mum first published around midday yesterday.
The teen was last seen leaving the bar after Norway beat Brazil 2-1 to reach the World Cup finals for the first time.
In a post on Facebook Nikoline’s mum wrote: “My daughter Nikoline hasn’t come home since yesterday’s football match.
“She was last seen at Funky Buddha in Puerto Banus with some other young Norwegians.
“She is 175cm tall, blonde/bleached, and was wearing a long pink dress with an Arabic pattern. Please share. Thank you for any information.”
Nikoline’s mum posted her message alongside a photo of her daughter.
The teenager, who lived in Norway with her biological father, had been holidaying in the area since June 19.
She was due to return home the day she disappeared, to attend a close friend’s birthday party after staying with family in the Fuengirola area.
Her mum told police she went out with friends in a bar in Calahonda between Marbella and Fuengirola before heading to Marbella’s old town.
She then got a taxi with a group of fellow Norwegians to the Funky Buddha club.
Nikoline is understood to have disappeared while a female friend went to the toilet between 3am and 4am that morning.
According to the last location of her mobile phone, she was on Julio Iglesias Avenue near the nightspot at around 3.30am.
The busy road, which runs behind the Puerto Banus marina, was the last location shown before the phone stopped transmitting.
Before contacting police in Fuengirola, Nikoline’s mum and her stepdad combed the port area for her without success.
She told Spanish media yesterday afternoon: “Every time she stays out late, she tends to maintain contact with us.”
Her mum’s missing appeal has now been removed from social media.
