The Transmission Company of Nigeria and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, have disagreed over the reason for the outage in parts of Oyo State.
In a statement by TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, on Friday, the commission faulted IBEDC for attributing the outage to it.
Recall that the disco on Thursday, January 15, 2026, attributed the inability to deliver bulk electricity supply to its franchise to TCN.
However, TCN faulted IBEDC’s claim, saying, “No load shedding was imposed on the feeder during the referenced period.”
“We would like to state that our operational records show no load shedding imposed on the feeder during the referenced period. Instead, the Idowa 33 kV feeder was taken out of service on a forced outage by IBEDC.
“TCN encourages IBEDC to ensure that information shared with the public, particularly its customers, is accurate and reflective of the situation on the ground,” TCN added.
