The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that there will be a disruption in electricity supply lasting over two weeks in certain parts of Abuja.
TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, made this announcement in a statement on Monday.
According to the company, the outage is scheduled to occur from Tuesday, October 27, to Sunday, November 16, and is necessitated by road construction activities in the Federal Capital Territory.
It clarified that the 132-kilovolt Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo double-circuit transmission line will be without power during this period. As a result, bulk electricity supply will be temporarily unavailable in the Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and Idu Industrial Layout areas throughout the construction period.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that there will be power outages in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory, as the Federal Capital Development Authority will begin road construction along the Kuje axis from Tuesday, October 28, to November 16, 2025. This construction work will impact the 132 kV Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo double-circuit transmission line.
“In light of this, TCN will implement a planned load management operation that will involve temporary interruptions of power during working hours for the road construction to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
“The planned outage will be carried out in three phases to facilitate smooth operations. The first phase is set to begin on Tuesday, October 28, and will run until Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The second phase will occur from November 6 to November 9, 2025, also between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, while the third phase will take place from November 12 to November 16, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.
“However, TCN assures that during this period, the following areas within the FCT—Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and Idu Industrial Layout—will experience temporary power interruptions, while normal power supply will be restored to the affected areas at the end of each day’s work period,” TCN stated.
