Individuals in accommodations can use this service around the clock to report issues ranging from heating failures to accessibility concerns.
Operators are instructed to document every call regarding broken items, regardless of how minor they may seem.
However, the service has been criticized twice for not responding adequately when contacted by individuals who later committed violent acts.
A report from the Home Affairs Select Committee indicated that Migrant Help, located in Dover, had “not been able to meet demand”.
The helpline is part of the government’s £4 billion Advice, Issue Reporting and Eligibility Service.
The total contract with Migrant Help could reach an astonishing £235 million by 2029.
A spokesperson commented: “This contract, along with its subsequent extension, was established under the previous government.
“All contracts are subject to review to ensure they continue to provide value for taxpayers.”
