Taraba: Gov’s aide defends appointment of Deputy Chief of Staff

Published on July 05, 2025 at 01:25 PM

The Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State on Muslim Religious Affairs, Alhaji Hussaini Isma’il, says the recent appointment of Mr. Emmanuel Lawson as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Governor was done in good faith.

Speaking to DAILY POST on Saturday in Jalingo, Isma’il said the appointment was necessary to ensure smooth administrative operations while the deputy governor continues to recover from health challenges.

He urged the public to pray for the deputy governor’s swift recovery, emphasizing that he has not been removed from office.

“Critical government agencies like the Boundary Commission and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) remain under the purview of the Deputy Governor’s office. Mr. Lawson is only overseeing affairs in the interim,”; Isma’il clarified.

He commended Governor Kefas for his inclusive leadership style and responsiveness to the concerns of the Muslim community, highlighting the governor’s continued support for Islamic clerics, many of whom, according to him, have received medical treatment funded by the state government.

Isma’il called on both Muslims and Christians in the state to unite in prayer for the deputy governor’s full recovery and return to duty.
