The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Joel Agya, on Tuesday, announced the commencement of the 2025 annual vacation for the state’s high courts, scheduled to begin on Monday, August 4, and end on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement titled “Taraba State Legal Notice No. 3 of the 2025 Annual Vacation of the High Court of Justice,”; signed by Justice Agya and made available to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital.

Citing provisions under Order 8 Rules 2011, Justice Agya explained that the high courts are entitled to an annual vacation in August for a period not exceeding six weeks, as determined by the Chief Judge through official notification in the gazette.

“For the avoidance of doubt, vacation in this notification means that the courts in all the divisions of the high court of the state will not be sitting during the period, except where the action is urgent or a judge, at the request of all the parties concerned, agrees to hear the matter,”; Justice Agya stated.

The statement further announced the appointment of Justice Yahaya Goje as the vacation judge who will handle urgent matters during the period.
