THIS is the terrifying moment an out of control tanker crashes and explodes into a huge inferno – and kills five people.

Footage shows an LPG tanker colliding with a concrete divider as thick, white plumes of smoke spread to almost 40ft across the plaza in India.

Workers and motorists scrambled to escape as the gas engulfs the area in northern .

Dharmendra Dubey, the 40-year-old driver of the tanker, was among the fatalities.

When the vapour reached a running generator, a fireball roared 30ft high – swallowing nearby tankers and the surroundings.

Toll worker Alok Singh was also killed at the scene.

Colleagues Anil Kumar, Hiramani Singh, 29 and Krishnapal Maurya, 23 died the following day.

One injured man remains in hospital in the city of Prayagraj.

Sixteen motorbikes and two cars parked in the plaza yard were completely obliterated.

Toll worker Sanjay Nirmal claims the lorry lost control due to light rain.

He said: “The entire vehicle just crashed down with a bang.

“The fire from the gas leak spread to the yard adjoining the plaza and to the toilet block.

“Supervisor Alok Pandey, who was sitting in the toilet, was badly burnt.”

Fire crews took around 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The incident took place around 6.40am at the Sihori toll plaza on June 26, in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The tanker had been travelling from the city of Kanpur towards Pratapgarh when it lost control.

Police said the recovered CCTV footage will form part of their investigation into the tragedy.

Earlier in June, footage captured the moment a – also killing five people.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) plane was landing at an airbase in Jorhat as part of a routine training exercise.

Horrifying CCTV footage shows the Antonov AN-32 land without issue before drifting slowly to the left.

It suddenly veers off the runway and onto the grass before overturning and bursting into flames.

Emergency crews rushed to the crash site but tragically five IAF personnel were killed in the crash.

Miraculously, the aircraft’s co-pilot survived the high-impact collision.
