Syrian Refugee and Accomplice Sentenced for Assaulting 18-Year-Old Girl They Met at Nightclub

A SYRIAN refugee who “invited” his asylum seeker pal to help rape an 18-year-old girl has been jailed.

Dilgash Adil, 32, plied the victim with drink until she was “falling down” drunk after meeting her in a nightclub.

He had lured her back to his accommodation in a house of multiple occupancy (HMO) in Winsford, Cheshire, where he assaulted her.

Adil then invited his friend, asylum seeker, Diyar Mohammed Abdulsalm, 28, to also rape the teenager.

Both men have now been jailed for 11 years each after being found guilty of rape.

The vile predators must also sign the sex offender register indefinitely.

Chester Crown Court heard former shepherd Adil was granted refugee status after coming to the UK in 2020 from Syria.

Abdulsalm claimed asylum in the UK in May 2023 but his status still under assessment at the time of the offences.

Judge Simon Berkson told the defendants, through a Kurdish interpreter: “It is quite clear you both took advantage of her vulnerable state.

“She was frankly in no fit state to consent to anything, in and out of consciousness.

“She was targeted, in my judgment, due to her vulnerability in that nightclub.”

The court heard heard Adil had been visiting his co-defendant at the HMO on December 21 when they decided to drive to a club.

At around 12.30am, they met the victim inside who had been out with her friends.

Adil bought her more drinks and she got “noticeably” more drunk with her eyes glazed, the court heard.

At the end of the night, the fiends offered a lift to her and her male friend, which they both accepted.

But when the friend got out of the car, the rapists drove off with the woman in the car and the passenger door still open.

Following the sex attack, the victim rang her mother “extremely upset” saying she did not know what had happened to her.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said she no longer feels safe, suffers panic attacks, struggles to sleep and is anxious around strangers.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Murray of Cheshire , said: “Abdulsalm and Adil targeted a young woman who could not consent due to intoxication.

“Officers quickly ensured the victim was safeguarded and arrested the pair in connection with the offences.

“Despite their denials, the jury found them guilty and they have now been jailed for their crimes. Although the victim will never be able to forget what happened, I hope these sentences provide her with some closure, knowing that these men are behind bars and justice has been served.
