Attackers suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists have struck Adamawa State again, this time in a village in Gombi Local Government Area.

DAILY POST learnt on Friday afternoon that the attackers launched an assault on Bala-Tela village in Gombi, a local government area bordering Hong LGA, which has frequently come under attack.

The attackers killed one person and burnt a car and a church building, among other property.

The attackers were said to have arrived in the village in large numbers, firing indiscriminately from their trademark motorcycles.

This is the second attack on Bala-Tela between April this year and now. The first, which occurred on April 26, was deadlier, claiming 29 lives.

Those killed in April were residents who had gathered to watch a local football match when the attackers suddenly arrived and shot those within their reach.

Gombi LGA, which in recent months has ranked alongside neighbouring Hong in terms of the frequency of Boko Haram attacks in Adamawa State, witnessed another such attack on September 7, when the terrorists attacked Dzangula, killing 12 people.

There has yet to be any official reaction to the Bala-Tela attack. The military would not normally comment on such incidents, while the police would consider the attack outside their purview.
