Deborah Abiodun will miss the remainder of the season due to injury, according to her National Women’s Soccer League, NWSL, club, Washington Spirit.

The Super Falcons midfielder is expected to undergo surgery this week.

The 22-year-old was initially expected to be out of action for around two months, but the club have now confirmed she won’t play again this season.

“The Washington Spirit has moved midfielder Deborah Abiodun from the 45-day injury (D45) list to the season-ending injury (SEI) list, the club announced today,” a statement on the club’s official website said.

Abiodun has made nine appearances for Washington Spirit this season.

She featured prominently for Nigeria at the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The former Dallas Trinity star is now expected to miss both legs of Nigeria’s 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers against Comoros next month.
