The University of Arkansas sophomore met his alleged victim on March 17 at an establishment in Fayetteville.
She was there with friends and eventually the group all decided to go back to the Kappa Sigma frat house where Kvern lived, court documents state.
Later, the group left her alone and she headed upstairs to Kvern’s room.
That’s when he “got handsy”.
While the two were kissing, Kvern allegedly squeezed her throat to the point where she had a hard time breathing and became dizzy.
He then demanded they have sex, which she said no to, the affidavit said.
This allegedly infuriated Kvern, who then “slapped her across the face and punched her”.
The victim reported that Kvern then raped her while asking her not to touch his shorts.
When she accidently did, he allegedly punched her in the stomach.
During the ordeal, Kvern reportedly told the victim it would be easy to throw her on the floor and break her rib cage.
The woman said she was too scared to tell him no again.
Kvern told university police investigators that the encounter was “totally consensual”.
Kvern was arrested Sunday and released from the Washington County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond a day later, according to arrest records.
“Kappa Sigma Fraternity was notified of this issue, and the Chapter at the University of Arkansas has cooperated with local authorities. Kappa Sigma will not tolerate or condone any form of harassment or abusive behavior,“ the fraternity said in a statement to KNWA.
