She had stepped outside for fresh air due to the heat when a man pulled up and forced her into the vehicle at knifepoint, local media reports.

Her alleged attacker, a 47-year-old man, drove her towards a hill overlooking the city.

The brave victim managed to discretely make a call to police during the terrifying journey.

A police source told La Provence : “She called 17 (the French emergency number) on her cell phone, without speaking, so as not to warn her attacker.

“The operators at the call center immediately understood the seriousness of the situation and what was happening when they heard the attacker’s extremely violent remarks.”

But the woman’s kidnapper noticed the phone and quickly turned off the device – hampering investigators efforts to track them.

He then took her to a secluded spot where he raped her at knifepoint.

“Despite our efforts, we weren’t able to locate the car in time. But thanks to the young woman’s call, we were able to identify her and contact her parents to find out where she lived,” an investigator told the outlet.

Three nightmarish hours passed as the woman was held captive by her kidnapper before she was able to escape.

Astonishingly she had memorised the license plate of her attackers car as police launched a manhunt.

With the victims information cops managed to track the man down in less than an hour.

The man was arrested in Les Milles district – a 12 minute drive away from the woman’s home.

Cops later discovered the man, from Gardanne, had a lengthy record of sexual offences.

According to local media, he was sentenced in 2013 to 18 years behind bars for several rapes.

He was only released on June 6 after serving his sentence.

The arrested man is also already the subject of a separate police investigation for kidnapping, unlawful confinement and rape.

The child, said to be 10-years-old allegedly attacked the 22-year-old victim while she ran through the Gouëdic Valley park in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany.

The boy was arrested by cops after a week-long manhunt.
