STRICTLY Come Dancing has given viewers plenty of glitter, glamour and gasp-worthy moments – but nothing gets fans talking more than a shock dance-off.
From a boyband star booted out far too soon to a screen legend toppling a chart-topping pop icon, here are the most jaw-dropping eliminations ever.


Over the years, some of the show’s biggest names have found themselves fighting for survival on the ballroom floor, leaving viewers stunned as the judges sent favourites home.
From surprise exits that sparked fan fury to dance-offs that went down in history, these dramatic showdowns proved that in the world of sequins and sambas – no one is safe.
So who were the stars that left fans open-mouthed and shouting at their tellys?

Aston Merrygold

The former star was a constant favourite, until he was put up against singer in in week seven of the competition in 2017.
The results proved to be an emotional one for the competitors and judges alike as the decision came down to ‘ decision alone.
As each judge was told to make their choice, each declared that they felt that NEITHER couple should’ve ended up in the bottom two.
Shirley was given the deciding vote after and chose to save , while opted to keep Mollie in the competition.
Despite Mollie appearing in the bottom two for the second week in a row, Shirley decided to keep them for one more week and sent Aston home.
After their fate was sealed, an emotional burst into tears as she told : “I just have to say honestly, I don’t think I’m ever going to have the opportunity to dance with someone like you again.
“Someone who is so talented, so lovely and such a good friend.”
Aston also praised his partner and his time on the show, and said: “I’ve had friends who have done the show before and they’ve gone ‘you’re going to have the most amount of fun from start to finish, whatever it is’ and honestly they weren’t lying!
“Everything, from this lady to every single person in here, these four judges, yourself, , all you amazing lot up there that I get to see and spend so much time with.
“I’ve made some amazing friends and honestly, I’ve had the best time, it’s been amazing.”
Max George

was eliminated from in the dance-off in 2020, losing to star and her dance partner .
Despite Max and his dancer partner being a popular duo with fans, the pair found themselves in the dreaded dance-off.
Judges Craig Revel Horwood and guest judge chose to save Masie and Gorka.
Anton admitted: “Well, I have to say it’s so close. They were both immaculate through that dance; it literally was just the smallest timing. For me, I’m going to have to save Maisie and Gorka.”
However, head judge Shirley said she would have saved George and Dianne, but she was outvoted.
Max became the third celebrity to exit the competition.
But two years later, Max and Maisie got into a and went public in August 2022.

Gabby Logan

was voted off Strictly Come Dancing in 2007 – finishing in fourth place.

Gabby later revealed she felt people “didn’t like me” because she was seen as too competitive.

Michelle Williams

exited Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 in Week 7.
This came after the public and judges’ scores placed her in the bottom two, alongside .
Shockingly, Ann Widdecombe survived the public vote despite finishing last on the leaderboard.
This meant the singer and her professional partner, , were eliminated from the competition.
Her final dance on the show was a Paso Doble to The Guess Who’s “American Woman”.
The judges criticised Michelle’s dance for being “very stiff,” lacking balanced lines, and losing energy.

Head judge Len Goodman had the casting vote and chose to save Greg Rutherford for a “more polished” performance.
Talking to Tess Daly about her Strictly experience, Daisy reflected: “I’ve loved every minute, everyone here is so unbelievable you have no idea!
